Cambridge has been described as one of the most beautiful cities
in Britain and whatever time of year you plan your visit, it has
plenty to offer. Walk along the Backs, the famous grass-covered
banks of the River Cam, which are carpeted with daffodils
in Spring. In Summer, take a punt along the river and enjoy the
architectural glories of the riverside colleges. At King's College
Chapel, the best known of all Cambridge buildings, you may be
lucky enough to hear the world-famous choir. In Autumn and Winter
there are fewer visitors and the City is less crowded, but the presence
of the students adds to the special atmosphere.
Cambridge has a wealth of museums and galleries covering
a wide range of interests. The Corn Exchange, Junction, Arts
Theatre and other venues provide programmes covering all aspects
of entertainment. The Cambridge Folk Festival is held on the last
weekend in July. Cambridge has a wide selection of shops from department
and well-known chain stores to specialist independent traders, and
is of course famous for its bookshops.
Cambridge is unique and interesting at any time of year, and there
is plenty for every visitor to see and do.

Cambridge conjures instant images to mind; the breathtaking view
of King's College Chapel from across the river, carpets of daffodils
along the Backs of the colleges in springtime, thousands of students
cycling frantically to lectures, lazy summer punting on the River
Cam. The City manages to combine its role as an historic city with
a world-renowned University and, in recent years, an internationally
acknowledged centre of excellence for technology and science. The
City is surrounded on all sides by heritage villages and towns and
ancient monuments, all within easy travelling distance.More than
3½ million visitors come to Cambridge every year to enjoy
the delights of the historic city itself, as well as using it as
an ideal base for exploring some of the gentlest and most unspoiled
countryside in England.Slightly further afield are the glorious
Suffolk wool towns and villages, such as Lavenham and Long Melford,
largely undisturbed since the Middle Ages.
